ABOUT

Wishing for Change…

Your life may seem in chaos and nothing is going right. Maybe you can’t find that peace and happiness of yesterday. When it becomes harder to deal with life on a daily basis and you just wish you could wave a magic wand to make it all improve, then it is time to find out how to feel better.

Why Therapy

Therapy is a way to help you find answers, to understand what is happening in your world, and to discover a new balance with life and everything you have going on.

Connecting with a compassionate and empathetic therapist allows you the opportunity to explore and identify with your past, accept and embrace your present, and to visualize and start to create your future.

Trust and Belief

In session, you can give yourself permission to share your deepest thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment and in confidence. My office is your sanctuary, and I will always treat you with the deepest respect. Our relationship is built on trust and support. You are the focus. You are the most important person, and together we will work to help you re-discover you. It is time to start the creation of your wonderful life.

You

are

not

Alone!

My life has provided me with many learning lessons above and beyond school and books. The painful experiences, uncomfortable feelings, the chaos and confusion are similar even though the names and events are different. You are not alone in your feelings. So many of us have walked the same paths, had the same types of feelings, wanted to just wake up and have it all be gone.

Your life does not have to remain the same. It just takes a bit of courage and a strong desire to be free to live your life as you deserve – happy, carefree and in harmony with those around you.

About Me

Who am I?

Hi! I’m Cheryl. Being a therapist is not a job but a passion that is very fulfilling and satisfying. I truly enjoy being able to share the experience of someone finding her strength and taking control of one’s existence with confidence and self-awareness.

I continue to evolve my own purpose in life (I confess, I may be addicted to learning), but something that has never changed is my need to be authentic and helpful to others. I am fully there for the people who choose to allow me to walk this journey with them in life.

I chose to name my company Journey Begins Counseling because for a while my own life was full of decisions that kept me unbalanced, lost and alone. I had lost sight of what I wanted to be when I grew up.

I LOST ME!

I wanted more. Through the support of therapy and others, as well as my desire to find me again, I healed and grew stronger. I have never once stopped to deny that each hardship has helped me be the person I am proud of today. Saying “I have been there and done that” allows me to help others with compassion and empathy.

“Life is a journey, not a destination.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Other Important Information:

I graduated with distinction from Capella University with a master’s in mental health counseling, Georgia Professional License LPC009697. I am recognized as a National Certified Counselor and am a Certified Anger Management Specialist. I started working with substance abuse and anger management in my master’s internship program and continue offering these groups today in my practice.

Prior to my master’s, I worked in human resources/benefits for 10 years helping employees deal with job/career issues, family problems, loss of loved ones, financial issues and so much more. The biggest benefit there was being the first to get the ‘new baby pictures – aww!’ I cherish happiness in others.

By being an empathetic listener, it helps me work with others and gives me an edge to understanding and providing what the individual needs. Everyone deserves to be happy and enjoy life!

Let me help you start the journey toward your desired happiness.
